The biggest difference between the characters is the type of victory they lead to. If a player has beaten the game before and wants to take a different route to see a different outcome, they have to think about changing the character, and what that’ll do. Planning ahead is also very important for the gameplay, and knowing each character’s attributes, strengths, and weaknesses makes that a lot easier.

10 Zosha

Zosha is a decent character to play, especially if players are aiming for a great fighter. Other than being an exceptional fighter, Zosha also is amazing at stealth, and if her rings were better, she’d be close to the top of the list.

Her stealth helps her throughout the game and is the biggest asset of the character. Thanks to that and her fighting skills, she’s one of the best passives in the game.

9 Magna

Magna is a mediocre character. She’s a great one to start out with, because of her starting budget, but she’s tough to finish with. Her passive nature and abilities aren’t a great help when it comes to killing the king, but the gameplay has a wonderful flow with her by your side.

Using the deck is also restricted due to her 2 spirits, but regardless of the setbacks, this character is recommended for those starting out, and those who have a lot of experience and are looking for a challenge.

8 Sana

Because of her exceptional spellcasting abilities, Sana is considered to be the best passives in the game, as she’s able to confront the King surprisingly early on in the gameplay.

However, it’s hard to start off with her, as this character has a low starting budget, leaving her vulnerable to the opponents in the beginning. And with limited fighting skills, that can be a tough spot to be in.

7 Sylas

Sylas is one of the most reliable picks and has good rings. He was previously known as the best character in the game and still remains in the A tier in most rankings. He too is a character that’s hard to set up at the beginning of the game, but in the long run, it pays off.

He’s one of the best combat passives in the game, and is very versatile, allowing players to experiment with the gameplay. He’s also a terrific character for newcomers to get the feel of the game flow.

6 Mercurio

Mercurio is definitely an underrated character in the game. He’s one of the best trickery characters, and his only real counter is Elyssa. But, unfortunately, he does have some setbacks that make him hard to handle especially by a newcomer to the game.

Combining his amazing attributes with his limited potential, this character is best suited for someone who already knows the game. Players who feel confident in his abilities and stats, and can apply a strategy to make the most out of them have a clear shot to victory, but those who just fumble with this information can fail just as quickly.

5 Fang

Fang is sometimes considered the best in the game and sometimes considered middle-tier. Truth be told, he’s an amazing character, sometimes even countering Thane, but his many disadvantages can throw even the best player off their game.

His starting budget is 2 gold and 1 rot, making him the hardest character to start the game with, but more experienced players can shimmy out of this jam, and those who do, don’t look back. This character is definitely not for starter players, but for more experienced people he’s a great investment.

4 Twiss

Twiss is the safest spellcaster choice in the game and is very compatible with starters as well. Her abilities allow her to go on quests even when enemies are nearby, so players can climb the ladder more quickly than with other characters. She has a great starting budget and amazing versatile abilities that can counter a lot of different types of characters.

3 Elyssia

Elyssia has the best control over the map, bar none, and she’s arguable the best trickery character in the game. She has a great starting budget and is able to gather gold a lot quicker than other characters. While players have to be careful here and there, as there are pitfalls when it comes to playing with Elyssia, more experienced players can make a home run with this handy character.

2 Sargon

Sargon is arguably the best and most reliable character in the game. His ability to take the element of surprise out of the equation, which makes him one of the best assets in the game. He usually gets the best cards in the game, so even newcomers can lead this character to victory.

He has a great starting budget and is the most powerful passive. He’s a fan-favorite everywhere, players love him for his versatile abilities and effectiveness, and people recommend this character for anyone who asks.

1 Thane

Thane is the one and only reason Sargon is not number one on this list. This is not because of some character flaw, and not because Thane is that much better. The only reason for this ranking is that Thane is notoriously known as the Master King Slayer.

No other character will get players there as fast as Thane can, and due to his piercing skills, he can attack and successfully kill the King on the third day. His stat distribution is very ideal, and his character is very versatile. Thane is recommended for people looking for the fastest way out, in other words, the most effective character bar none.
