For context, Final Fantasy 7 Remake finally launched yesterday, on April 10, 2020, coming in over 20 years after the release of its original title. In response, companies from all over are congratulating Square Enix. DOOM even recreated FF7 Remake’s cover art in celebration.

Arby’s took it a step further though. The company created life-like models of two of Cloud Strifes’ most popular tools: his Hardy-Daytona motorcycle, and his Buster Sword. It then tweeted out a video showing a timelapse viewing of how the replicas came to be.

Sadly, though, the video doesn’t cover the entire creation process. Fans will only get to see part of how Cloud’s bike is created, and won’t see the Buster Sword’s development at all. Considering how detailed the models turned out, however, these cuts were probably made because showing the full process, even time-lapsed, would be too long of a video for Twitter.

But what’s really crazy about these replicas isn’t just the fact that they’re life-like and that a fast-food chain created them, but the fact that they’re made out of nothing but sandwich boxes. The same sandwich boxes that barely stretch over a foot in length. It must have taken hundreds of these things to pull something like this off.

The amount of attention that went into each model’s design is staggering. The Hardy-Daytona model made excellent use of stenciling and cut-outs to capture most, if not all, of the details of Cloud’s bike. Arby’s even used foil to create the illusion of a honed-edge for the Buster Sword.

And this isn’t even the first time Arby’s has created cardboard sculptures of famous fictional properties. It actually does it frequently considering all the effort it takes to make just one. In fact, one of the company’s most famous recreations depicts the primary antagonist of the Soul Calibur series. In collaboration with Bandai Namco, Arby’s created a life-sized sculpture of the character Nightmare using only sandwich boxes.

All in all, Final Fantasy 7 Remake is enjoying a long-awaited opening weekend. The reviews for it have been all-around positive, and if it’s not being played, it’s receiving all kinds of attention from all types of people. It’s generally just a good time to be a Final Fantasy 7 fan.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is available now for the PlayStation 4.
